Job Title:  Director of Studies.

Location:  Mackenzie School of English, Edinburgh. 

Minimum qualifications: DELTA or equivalent

Main purpose of the job: The Director of Studies takes responsibility for academic management of the school and to implement the school’s teaching methodology and ethos. Duties include: Occasional teaching, management and recruitment of the teaching team, course design, student placement, teacher development and administration related to the academic department.

Main Duties To organise placement tests for students on arrival, the marking of tests and the efficient placing of students into classes based on test results.To effectively manage the academic team, including the monitoring of teachers' hours and performance.To provide support to the academic team, including materials management and professional developmentTeacher recruitment and induction/training.Programme design.All administration related to the academic department.To assist students with any academic problems they may have.To communicate and collaborate with agents and group leaders in order to provide ideal tuition for each group.To collect and action feedback related to the academic department.To provide cover teaching when necessary or to be included in teaching rotas in certain circumstances, as directed by School Director.To work together with all members of the management team to ensure that the client complete experience at Mackenzie School is a positive one.Any other duties deemed reasonable by the management.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience needed for the JobDELTA or equivalent qualification.Experience working with young people.Experience of working in a similar role.Ability to cope under pressure and with tight deadlines.Excellent organisational skills.Strong interpersonal skills.Good time management

Salary: Dependent on experience
