Friday
evening is an opportunity to unwind, meet old friends and make some new
ones. There
will be a conference dinner with music supplied by the Hermitage Ensemble,
an Edinburgh based group of three instruments (flute, cello and piano),
who play background music including classical, palm court,
show tunes and popular classics.
The after dinner talk by Bob
Jordan will be about his forthcoming book WOW (Writers’ Other Work),
a survey of 20th Century British writers who also taught English language
or literature abroad. Bob is well known in EAP circles for his Academic
Writing Course and is an honorary associate life member of BALEAP.

 Saturday
entertainment will be more exuberant. There will be a ceilidh - Scottish
dance party – from
8pm with music from the Belle
Star Band, an all-woman ceilidh band, emerging
as one of the most popular and
enjoyable bands in Scotland.
‘They play a refreshing blend of Scottish and American tunes
with old timey influences - many written by fiddler Alison Cowie. The
infectious
dance
band sound of the Belle Stars is enhanced by imaginative twin fiddle
harmonies and a strong back beat which gets your toes tapping!’
If you think you can’t do Scottish country
dancing, think again. The Belle Stars have an irresistible caller who
can get anyone dancing. |
